Hiya dear readers,
So, this morning – after many months of considering and going over the privacy statement that I have no choice but to agree with – I logged into the MyGov portal in Beta mode.
Or simply written – I tested a version of MyGov. Where they can track your mouse clicks and links etc. They can even watch a video of you using the MyGov site.
This morning I looked at my profile, and apparently my address hadn’t been updated since 2017. When I was living in day-supported accommodation.
Well, I’ve moved since then. In January 2018. Over four years ago.
So, I updated the address under “My Profile”.
Got a (sarcasm alert) lovely letter in it’s inbox saying my address change was unsuccessful. Not accepted by Centrelink, NDIS, ATO, and Medicare.
Logged into Centrelink and NDIS. They do indeed have my correct address.
Of course.

Don’t freak out.
You know you returned forms as demanded.
Know it. Tell them.
Be nice when possible.
Just goes to show how separate all of the information has been. In Department of Human Services, or now that people have been taken out of the equation – Services Australia.
When data-sharing is not an option, incompetency and cruelty can exist.
Don’t freak out.
You know you returned forms as demanded.
Know it. Tell them.
Be nice when possible.
This new government – they’re trying to fix it all.
In Australia’s public service workforce of this last Liberal Government, keeping employees and info seperate was a weapon. Or a tool. Whatever. Amounts to the same things. Dehumanising and make to jump through hoops for simple changes to your personal data. To use big words our important information, in fact your workload is – Silo-d away, de-centralised, not data-sharing, separated, disconnected etc. ad nauseum.
If you work in the same department, but are physically separated and rebuked for communicating with others in your department – yes, you are right – it’s not right, it’s not normal, and it’s weird. It does indeed create more work for you, dear public servant.
It does indeed make the ‘Australian public’ reliant on government services into ranting loonies.
It’s very much in the spirit of how the Liberal Government has seen itself in the world – what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is yours – and unless you’re useful to me right now – get lost. *whispers* No one cares.
Oh, and don’t you dare communicate with each other….
We call that ganging up and… showing us up for the incompetent’s fools that we are… or since laziness of thought seems to prevail on the former government – You, dear public servant, probably hear/ed things like “Oh you don’t need to do THAT”, “Don’t stretch yourself”, “You don’t have to go full on”, “Don’t wear yourself out”, or even “No one cares about THAT”.
How can I guess at what you’ve been told? Well, call it informed extrapolation. Gained from life experience.
You know how to get things done.
I just hope you’re not fired for doing your job.
Fixing this silo’d, de-centralised information.
As “Australian people” expect.
Doing your job with respect and dignity. Showing respect and dignity.
You were right.
